A HUGE Thank You to my 2014 Senior Reps!

I just wanted to dedicate a blog post to my amazing 2014 Senior Reps.  They were dedicated throughout the entire school year and did a great job.  I am looking forward to meeting all of my 2015 Senior Reps... which by the way, I am changing the name to "Senior Models".  If you happen to know a 2015 high school senior in The Woodlands/Spring area, please contact me to find out the details.  Thank you again, Ashley, Karem, Izamar, Kaylee, and Morgan!

Briana | Senior Portraits

Isabella

I was inspired to do a Spring-stylized session with my daughter, after realizing it had been awhile since I had photographed her.  She loves photo shoots and taking pictures, so she was definitely excited when we picked out her flower crown and white Spring-y dress.  I pulled out my 50mm f1.4 lens that I have been neglecting ever since purchasing the 24-70 f2.8.  I love the results.  =)  Isabella had so much fun on our little photo shoot.  I love that she is at the age that photography makes her happy.  (modeling & taking pictures)

Gabby | Senior Portraits

I had a fantastic time photographing Gabby on Market Street.  She was ready to show off her amazing prom dress with professional hair and makeup.

Why I Won't be Photographing your Wedding or Baby...

I think about Photography all the time...  I am a full time photography teacher as well as a portrait photographer.  Lately I have been trying to find the common denominator with all "amazing" photographers.  You know... those ones that when you see an image by them, and you just know who took it.  Like, Ansel Adams, Sue Bryce, Amanda Holloway, Rachel VanOven, etc...  I have come to the conclusion that all of these talented photographers have one main thing in common, they specialize in ONE thing.  Ansel Adams is a legendary landscape photographer, Sue Bryce has glamour, Amanda Holloway has seniors, and Rachel VanOven is the queen of babies.  =)

I absolutely love love love every single genre of portraits that I do.  However, there is one that I am head over heels for.  Seniors.  I teach them full time Monday-Friday at my "real" job, and I love their personalities, their individualism, I love that they are on the verge of the rest of their lives.  Their senior portraits are usually the last time they will be photographed professionally until their wedding day.  It is an amazing experience being able to sit down to coffee with them and their parents and hear how they want to portray who they are in their senior portraits.  I love helping them plan their clothing choices and make up.  It is all fantastic.

It hurts me to limit my other sessions, but I have made the hard, but incredible decision to specialize in High School Senior Portraits.  I hope that limiting my range of portraits will help me focus my energy and attention on one genre, and help me hone my skills to one day become one of those "amazing" photographers that I love to stalk on Instagram and Facebook.  I will continue to do some children photography, each month on a limited basis.  I have decided at this time I will no longer take on weddings, events, or newborns.  I hope this announcement does not offend anyone, and that every one of my past and future clients can see that I must follow my passion in order to flourish.

All About Amber

Hi!  I'm Amber.

I love telling stories with my camera.

I am a coffee addict.

I was born and raised in Iowa, but I moved to Texas as soon as I could.  (in 2006)

I am a wife and mother.

I have an Associates degree in Professional Photography, majoring in Portraiture and Photojournalism.

I also have a Bachelors degree in Art Education.

I love bold colors, even though I almost always wear black.

I teach high school, and love it.  Photography is what I teach, of course.

I love to text, and hate to talk on the phone.  In person is by far the best way to communicate.

I never knew how much I could love another person until I had my daughter.

I eat, sleep, and breathe Photography.

My favorite color is pink.

I love being busy and can't stand being bored.  I struggle to ever really relax.

I tend to make lots of lists and love the process of planning.

I am thankful and grateful for each and every client I get.  It is a blessing that I get to do what I love.  I am positive that many other people are not so lucky.  I don't ever see it as "work", it is all fun.  When I look back, I am humbled by how many people choose me to create images of the moments they will never get back.

Where do you photograph your sessions?
At this time, I don't have a studio.  However, I am great at finding a location that compliments your personality and style.  Studios can be boring, and let's face it, that's something department stores can do...  I like to get out in the beautiful natural light at a location that fits you.

When are you available?
I do most sessions on the weekends, but I am available for weekday sessions as well.  I like to work with your schedule.

How many outfits should I bring to my session?
You are welcome to bring as many outfits as you like and we can prioritize them together at your session.  You can even send me pictures of your outfits and accessories ahead of time and we can talk about them.

How long will it take to see my pictures?
Your pictures will be ready to view & order in 2 weeks, usually less.

I booked a session for my child or senior, but I would like one or two pictures of my whole family...  Is that allowed or do I need to book a second session for the family?
I am happy to accommodate your family with 1-5 pictures at your session, but it shouldn't be the focus of your session.

How do I get to view my pictures?
I will come to your home in about 2 weeks after your session for your viewing and ordering concierge service.  I will help you pick out all of the prints and products that you would like, from wall art, gift prints, and canvases, all of my products are heirloom quality.  During this viewing and ordering time, I will have samples to look at touch in person, as well different sizes, so you can see first hand how it will look on your wall.
